The Falcon 2000 is manufactured by Dassault, a French aviation company that builds military planes and private jets. The jet was developed from the Falcon 900, a popular business jet that was notably purchased by Elon Musk before he became a billionaire in 2012. A Falcon 900 was also previously owned by Taylor Swift before being sold in January.

Several variants of the jet have since been manufactured. The Falcon 2000LXS, the most recent variant, made its first delivery in 2014. In total, some 700 Falcon 2000 jets have been made.

A new Falcon 2000LXS costs around $36.5 million, while a pre-owned jet costs $24 million.

A new Falcon 2000LXS — manufactured in 2024 — costs over $10 million more than a pre-owned jet that was built in 2015, per the charter company Guardian Jet.

Flying on the Falcon 2000LXS for 300 hours a year amounts to around $5 million in operating costs, per Guardian Jet. On average, the jet burns some 280 gallons of fuel per hour, which amounts to $1,400 in hourly fuel costs.

According to the jet broker JetCraft, only 17% of Falcon 2000LXS aircraft were bought pre-owned, while the majority were purchased new in 2019.

The 2000LXS is powered by the Pratt & Whitney PW308C engines, per Dassault's website.

Several similarly-sized jets, like the Gulfstream G280 and the Bombardier 650, are notably less expensive. Both these jets cost around $24.5 million new, per Guardian Jet.

The Falcon 2000LXS has a range of 4,000 nautical miles or around 4,600 miles.

Several business jets, including the Bombardier 650, have a similar range of 4,000 nautical miles.

The Falcon 2000LXS has a wingspan of 70.2 feet, a length of 66.2 feet, and a height of 23.2 feet, per Dassault's annual report.
